This blog was originally dedicated to update my friends and family on the details of my recovery from a traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). I later began writing myself and now use this blog to document my journey through life with a spinal cord injury.

Angels: Steve and Camille Included

I feel incredibly humbled and blessed to have become closer to Carson's parents over the last few days. They are incredible people with incredible faith. Some of the things we discussed are too personal to share on this blog. I will not say how they know, but this much I will say, there are angels watching over this family and God has prepared Carson and his family for this overwhelming trial. I don't know if I have ever experienced a time where the veil between Earth and our Heavenly Father was so thin as I did with Carson and his family tonight. There is absolutely no doubt in the mind of Carson, or the rest of the Tueller family, that is aware of their situation and is in control.

When Steve jumped in the foam pit immediately after Carson's injury, Carson kept telling him, "Its going to be alright, dad, it's going to be alright." He could see the terror in his fathers eyes as the weight of what had just happened started falling on him, and as he struggled to keep Carson's neck from moving any further.

This afternoon they received further insight from Carson on what he experienced in the accident. Earlier this morning, while he has been in recovery, he said, "I am so excited about life, I can’t wait for the next chapter to begin, it is going to be more marvelous than anyone can imagine." (Knowing the he will be an instrument in the hands of God)

Camille said, referring to the earlier accident,“That is why he had a completely calm look on his face and was smiling through the whole thing. He was totally aware. He later said, 'this is it, this is the next step.'"

There has been a great deal of heavily peace with Carson's parents as well. They recounted a story from Carson’s mission of when he was effected by a devastating earthquake in Chile. One night at 3am, Carson awoke to the ground shaking and immediately ran outside the building. Once he arrived outside the building he realized that he had forgotten his companion and two other missionaries inside the building. He raced back inside, risking his life, in order to wake up the other missionaries. They all made it out of the building safely. However, his family was receiving no updates from church headquarters or Chile at home.  Camille said, “When you hear that your child is in an earthquake grips you, but then soon replaced by thoughts of what I was going to do for the day. And then I kept trying to come back and be afraid. And then it hit me, that I was feeling peace."

Steve was the most worried in that instance. He was calling up church headquarters wondering if his boy was buried under a pile of rubble. Then, not long after, he received a one line text from an unknown foreign number saying, "Dad, I'm okay."

While Carson and was in the crowded streets, he said he heard someone speaking in English, something that never happened in Chile. It was a man with a Blackberry phone that let the missionaries contact their families.

This family has experienced divine peace and miracles, they said they feel a similar peace to what Camille felt in this situation. Thank you everyone for your prayers and love. It means more than you know!
