This blog was originally dedicated to update my friends and family on the details of my recovery from a traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). I later began writing myself and now use this blog to document my journey through life with a spinal cord injury.

Ward Prayer and Fast:

A group of people met at 3:00 in the Heather Glen chapel in Layton to pray for Carson together. There was a great turnout of neighbors, friends and ward members who came to show their support. The program began with a few words from Kyle Johnson, a former ward member and friend of Carson who suffered a severe brain injury three years ago. He talked about the power of prayers in his spiritual and physical recovery, and encouraged everyone to keep praying for Carson. Emily Wood, the YSA ward Relief Society president, presented the idea for everyone to present luminaries on their front porches in support of the family tonight.

Bishop Austin of the YSA ward gave an update about Carson after just returning from visiting him. He said Carson had a big smile on his face, and he was able to move his arm to cover a cough. He told everyone that Carson was trying to stay positive, he didn't want to know what the diagnosis was, so he wouldn't have to worry about it. He told Carson that he has a lot of supporters, because "everyone who knows him, loves him." I felt like that is a very accurate description.

President Down fought through tears and gave a powerful invocation. He invoked his priesthood keys in asking a blessing on Carson, his family, and his Doctors. There was not a dry eye in the room.

Later in the night Stephen told us that Carson had been struggling all day. A large mix of fatigue, stress, and pain has been bearing down on Carson all day. However, Carson's spirits were suddenly lightened right around the 3:30-4:00 hour. It was then that Carson was able to stay very awake, positive, and to laugh a bit. Stephen said that it is a direct testament of the power of prayer!
Keep those prayers coming! His father told us that Carson said to tell everyone hello and that he loves them!
